If you want to compete in JO’S this year, you’re more than welcome to. Registration is available until July 23rd. As a staff, we have decided to not make JOs our aim this year and focus on training, strength/speed development, and developing a year round schedule for competing/training. If you have paid your registration fee, you’re already registered with AAU and can sign up for Junior Olympics online ($51/athlete). Currently, registration is for the first 48 athletes that sign up online per event. I don’t feel its in the best interest of the athletes to compete due to the lack of summer competitive meets, no district/regional qualifiers, and concerns of Covid-19/social distancing at the meet. I see where we’re at condition/training wise and see no benefit in trying to have kids compete at JO’S without risking injury and/or poor times. With that being said, if you want to go compete, I will not prevent you from doing so, and will cheer and support you in your endeavors. I will post all links for the competition. I hope that you can understand our position. As a staff, we’re committed to the safety and welfare of our kids BEFORE anything else. At this time, I just don’t see the benefit outweighing the risks.
